Ministry Of Defence Records Office

EDM number 232 in 2003-04, proposed by John McDonnell on 08/12/2003.

That this House deeply regrets that this month the Government will complete the privatisation of the Ministry of Defence Records Office; and expresses its extreme disquiet that this sell-off will result in the loss of the jobs of the long-serving, dedicated team of MoD archive staff, will put at risk the sensitive service records of military personnel and will place these valuable historical artefacts in the hands of untrained and inadequately vetted employees of TNT, a firm which has already instigated a dramatic increase in the charges for access to the archive.

This motion has been signed by a total of 25 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
