Snp Pensions Policy
EDM number 1868 in 2003-04, proposed by Mike Weir on 03/11/2004.
That this House welcomes the commitment of the SNP to a Citizen's Pension to abolish the unfair system of means-testing, a proposal that has been welcomed by pensioners and pensioner organisations across the country; welcomes the SNP's commitment to extend and substantially increase the basic state pension that will mean at least an extra ú26.40 for single pensioners and ú33.75 a week for couples without the need for intrusive, expensive, inefficient and unfair means testing; and encourages the Government and Labour honourable Members to read the SNP's pensions policy so that they can make informed contributions to debates.
