Prime Minister David Oddson Of Iceland
EDM number 1826 in 2003-04, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 26/10/2004.
That this House congratulates David Oddson, who recently retired after completing 14 years in office as Prime Minister of Iceland; and commends Mr Oddson on becoming one of the longest-serving centre-right prime ministers anywhere in Europe and also for his many political achievements, which included the championing of privatisation and deregulation, steadfast support for NATO, as well as being a true friend to both the United States and Great Britain and his determination to ensure that the national interests of Iceland were preserved, by retaining local control of fishing policy, political independence and national sovereignty.
This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
