Defence Of Property
EDM number 1820 in 2003-04, proposed by Iris Robinson on 26/10/2004.
That this House notes with concern the growing number of crimes occurring at people's homes; recognises the subsequent anxiety created amongst particularly older members of our society; fears the law is currently wrongly weighted against the victims of such crimes; expresses dissatisfaction that perpetrators have often received substantial compensation for injuries obtained while committing crimes; seeks clarification regarding the position of those who seek to defend themselves and their property; and urges the Government to consider introducing measures that would remove some of the rights currently afforded to trespassers.
This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
