FUTURE OF SCOTLAND'S HISTORIC REGIMENTS

EDM number 1819 in 2003-04, proposed by Annabelle Ewing on 26/10/2004.

That this House notes the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Defence's attempt to allocate responsibility to the Scottish Council of Colonels for the Government-inspired axe over the Scottish regiments; demands that the Defence Secretary clarify whether the original instructions to the Scottish Colonels stand; notes that the Government appears to be on the run over these proposals as a result of the public anger and disgust being expressed throughout Scotland; further notes that the Government is pursuing the disreputable tactic of blaming everyone else for their own policy; and demands that the Secretary of State for Defence removes forthwith the threat of amalgamation or disbandment from all the Scottish regiments.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
