Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2004
EDM number 1721 in 2003-04, proposed by John McDonnell on 12/10/2004.
That this House notes the August 2004 House of Commons Regulatory Reform Committee report on the Proposal for the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2004; welcomes the Committee's view that the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has not yet made a convincing case for the revocation of the Fire Precautions (Sub-Surface Railway Stations) Regulations 1989, which were introduced following the Fennell report into the November 1987 Kings Cross disaster; supports the opinion expressed in the report that the provisions of the 1989 Regulations should remain in force; and believes that in its response to the report the Department should accept the Committee's position.
