Cheltenham Festival Of Literature

EDM number 1710 in 2003-04, proposed by Nigel Jones on 12/10/2004.

That this House celebrates the Cheltenham Festival of Literature; congratulates Christopher Cook, its artistic director, on putting together such an extensive and varied programme of events, based on the timely theme, The State of the Nation; welcomes the efforts by the festival organisers to encourage young people to develop a passion for reading; wishes all speakers at the festival (including distinguished parliamentarians from both Houses) every success with their events; and expresses the hope that audiences will once again by entertained, enlightened and stimulated by their experiences at Britain's oldest literary festival.
