Equal Pay For Former Ncb Canteen Workers And Cleaners
EDM number 165 in 2003-04, proposed by Adam Price on 01/12/2003.
That this House registers its deep disappointment at the decision of the Government not to award ex-gratia payments to former National Coal Board female canteen workers and cleaners who did not lodge a claim at an employment tribunal within six months of the cessation of employment; notes that some 3,000 former NCB workers have not received any compensation which has averaged ú10,000 in the 1,370 settled cases; believes that there is a clear moral case for settling all outstanding cases; and calls on the Government to accept its responsibility for the injustices inflicted upon these employees by British Coal.
