National Memorial To The British Evacuation Of Children
EDM number 1561 in 2003-04, proposed by John Mann on 21/07/2004.
That this House welcomes the project launched by the Evacuees Reunion Association to have a national memorial to the British evacuation of children from the towns and cities threatened by enemy bombing during the Second World War; notes that the Association is an established national charity with members scattered all over the world; further notes that there is currently no such memorial in the UK, unlike in other countries; and calls on the government to work with the Association on this important project.
