Castell Aberteifi/cardigan Castle

EDM number 1533 in 2003-04, proposed by Simon Thomas on 16/07/2004.

That this House notes that Castell Aberteifi/Cardigan Castle is the subject of the forthcoming BBC programme 'Restoration'; notes that the castle has played a huge role in Welsh history, as the first Welsh stone-built castle, the seat of the Welsh royal family of the Lord Rhys and the home of the first recorded Eisteddfod in 1176; regrets that the castle has fallen into disrepair over the last few decades but is delighted that the castle is now in public ownership once more; congratulates all those in Ceredigion and beyond who have campaigned for the restoration of the castle; thanks Ceredigion County Council for rising to this challenge; and believes that a telephone vote on 09011 332222 in favour of Castlell Aberteifi would be a positive boost to heritage, tourism and public pride in West Wales.

This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
