Fireworks
EDM number 1513 in 2003-04, proposed by John Cryer on 14/07/2004.
That this House supports the proposed regulations to tackle the anti-social use of fireworks, including creating an 11pm to 7am curfew on the use of fireworks, with exemptions for traditional and multi-cultural celebrations, prohibiting the public supply of category 3 fireworks that exceed 120 decibels, making permanent the emergency Fireworks Regulations 2003 where it is an offence for anyone under the age of 18 to possess fireworks in a public place, and for any person other than a fireworks professional to possess professional display fireworks; but believes that all suppliers of fireworks to the public should require a licence from the local authority which could be revoked or refused if necessary to tackle the problem of fireworks misuse and illegal distributions.
This motion has been signed by a total of 68 MPs.
