CHILDREN'S PLAY COUNCIL AND COMMENTS OF THE HON. MEMBER FOR WEST DORSET

That this House notes that, in his recent article in the Daily Telegraph, the Shadow Chancellor asserted that the recent Children's Play Review had led to the founding of three bodies, Skills Active, the Children's Play Council and the Children's Play Information Service; notes that all three organisations long pre-date the Play Review, two of them receiving public funds from the previous Conservative Government; calls upon the honourable Member for West Dorset to withdraw this wrongful assertion, which he repeated, in part, on the BBC Today programme and instead to support the priorities set out in the Play Review; and expects that any failure to do so indicates that the Tory frontbench do not wish any of the ú200 million extra promised to improve play facilities to be invested in constituencies of Conservative honourable Members.
