Closure Of Teletext Ltd. Glasgow Office

That this House notes with dismay the proposals by Teletext Limited a subsidiary of The Daily Mail and General Trust Limited to close its Scottish office in Glasgow with the loss of all 14 posts; notes with concern that in its application last year for its licence renewal, Teletext Limited made specific reference to its investment in Scotland as part of its obligation to include regional coverage and praised the achievements of its Scottish sports coverage team that has obtained considerably higher viewing figures over recent years, but that only six months later the company is now announcing a real reduction in services emanating from and to Scotland; and calls upon Teletext Limited urgently to reconsider the decision and ensure that Scottish sports coverage is maintained at the same high level of quality from a Scottish base.
