That this House is aware that approximately 1.4 million people in Britain are known to have diabetes; congratulates the national charity Diabetes UK for its sterling work helping sufferers and highlighting their needs; welcomes Her Majesty's Government's confirmation of its agreement with the view of the National Institute of Clinical Excellence that no restrictions should be placed upon the use of glucose testing strips by people with diabetes; and calls upon all primary care trusts in the UK to end any current local restrictions which are preventing informed decisions being made on the basis of clinical need.
