Tynwald Day

EDM number 1446 in 2003-04, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 01/07/2004.

That this House salutes the people of the Isle of Man as they celebrate their national day this week, upholding centuries of proud tradition; notes that the Manx annual Tynwald Ceremony dates back over 1000 years; recognises that the Tynwald is the oldest continuous parliament in the world, dating back to 800 A.D.; and looks forward to the people of this unique British Crown Dependency enjoying a further 1000 years of self-government and home rule, whilst retaining the special link with the United Kingdom.

This motion has been signed by a total of 32 MPs.
