Canada Day

EDM number 1445 in 2003-04, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 01/07/2004.

That this House joins the people of Canada in celebrating their national day on 1st July; notes that Canada Day celebrates the anniversary of the formation of the union of British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on 1st July 1868; recognises the shared heritage between the peoples of the United Kingdom and Canada; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to strengthen the close political, economic and cultural ties that continue to bind the two nations together.
