Supporting People Initiative

EDM number 1443 in 2003-04, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 01/07/2004.

That this House notes the difficulties being faced by voluntary and independent care providers for those with learning disabilities given the proposed changes to the Supporting People initiatives; recognises the number of schemes and initiatives developed through the Supporting People funding which have been put to excellent use in helping those, young and old alike, with severe learning difficulties; and calls on the Deputy Prime Minister to ensure the funding through this scheme is maintained in order to protect existing services and to prevent extra financial pressures being put in to social services and providers going out of business.

This motion has been signed by a total of 54 MPs.
