Paid Parental Leave
EDM number 1393 in 2003-04, proposed by Helen Jones on 23/06/2004.
That this House welcomes the introduction of a right to parental leave by the Government but believes that many parents are unable to exercise that right because of financial constraints; and therefore calls on the Government to consider introducing the right to a statutory payment during parental leave which would benefit all families, especially those on low pay, and aid employers by enabling absences to be planned.
