Victims Commissioner For Northern Ireland

EDM number 1386 in 2003-04, proposed by Ian Paisley on 23/06/2004.

That this House is concerned about the deep sense of hurt and frustration felt by many of the victims of terrorist violence in Northern Ireland who feel that they have not been given adequate recognition for their suffering and loss; and calls on the Government to establish and provide adequate funding for a Victims Commissioner for Northern Ireland to ensure that the rights of victims are upheld and that they are given adequate support in the future.
