Public Opinion On Hunting
EDM number 1324 in 2003-04, proposed by Adrian Bailey on 08/06/2004.
That this House notes that the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld a complaint by the League Against Cruel Sports against the Countryside Alliance claim that 59 per cent. of people say keep hunting; notes that the ASA has criticised this claim as misleading; further notes that the Market Research Society has accepted a similar complaint and criticised the Countryside Alliance's polling company, NOP, for unprofessional conduct and for bringing discredit onto the market research profession; believes instead the recent MORI poll that 76 per cent. of the British public think that hunting should be illegal; and looks forward to the rapid reintroduction of the Hunting Bill so that hunting with dogs can be banned.
