Graphical, Paper And Media Union And Political Fund Ballots
EDM number 1298 in 2003-04, proposed by John Mann on 26/05/2004.
That this House congratulates the members of the Graphical, Paper and Media Union (GPMU) on voting to retain their political fund; recognises the numerous workplace campaigns that had been taken into the political arena by the GPMU and had achieved real results; notes that the GPMU is the second TUCC affiliate to hold a political fund review ballot in this current series of ballots; agrees with GPMU National Officer Mike Griffiths that repeatedly balloting members on the political fund is a waste of union time and money; and urges the Government to abolish the need to re-ballot after a union had successfully balloted three times in favour of the continuation of their political fund.
This motion has been signed by a total of 63 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
