BBC Restoration Programme And The Lion Salt Works In Cheshire
EDM number 1260 in 2003-04, proposed by George Osborne on 24/05/2004.
That this House notes that the Lion Salt Works at Marston in Cheshire is the only candidate from the North West of England in the BBC's new Restoration programme; is impressed by the proposal from its charitable trust to restore what was the last open pan salt works in Britain and turn it into a working industrial museum; congratulates the trustees and volunteers who have worked so hard to put together the proposal and preserve a manufacturing process that has gone on in Britain since Roman times; and urges viewers across the country to vote for the Lion Salt Works to be this year's winner of Restoration so that it can be a living reminder to future generations of the industrial heritage of the whole United Kingdom.
