Constitutional Change

EDM number 118 in 2003-04, proposed by David Davis on 26/11/2003.

That this House condemns the Government for seeking to abolish the positions of Lord Chancellor and Law Lords; points out that it has failed to make a cogent case for either action; warns against emasculating the Other Place as a check on an already powerful Government; welcomes the fact that the judiciary, the Law Lords and the House of Lords have all demonstrated their independence from the Government; and calls on the Government to return to a more consensual approach to constitutional reform.

This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs.
