Rising Crime

EDM number 117 in 2003-04, proposed by David Davis on 26/11/2003.

That this House notes with concern the serious increase in crime and fear of crime in Britain in the last five years; notes in particular the fact that violent crime has risen by two-thirds and that gun crime has doubled; recognises that detection rates for crime have fallen to less than one in four; believes that the Government has not been tough on crime; and calls on the Government to increase the number of police officers on the beat and remove Home Office control over local policing.

This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
