Genetically Modified Crops

That this House congratulates the Government on commissioning the largest ecological study of its kind, in the form of the farm scale evaluations of GM crops and the publication of the results; further congratulates the Government on the GM Nation Public Debate run by an independent steering board; congratulates the steering board on generating such a large number of responses and their careful assessment of the concerns of people not usually heard in such debates; believes that ministers must retain public confidence in such consultations by ensuring the responses are heard; notes the wealth of information now available to honourable Members; and calls for an urgent parliamentary debate on the commercialisation of GM crops in the UK.
