Performance Of The Inland Revenue Under Welsh Language Act 1993
EDM number 1067 in 2003-04, proposed by Simon Thomas on 28/04/2004.
That this House notes the Inland Revenue's use of a financial incentive to encourage employers to fill in their annual assessment forms online; further notes that the Inland Revenue could not offer Welsh language on online forms in time for the 2004 tax year; believes that this is contrary to the provisions of the Welsh Language Act 1993 and undertakings given in the Revenue's own Welsh language scheme; and calls on the Inland Revenue to compensate Welsh speaking employers who intended to benefit from the financial incentive by filling in their annual assessment forms online but could not do so due to the lack of Welsh language provision.
