CHILDREN'S COMMISSIONERS
EDM number 1064 in 2003-04, proposed by Hywel Williams on 27/04/2004.
That this House welcomes the Government's proposals to establish a Children's Commissioner for England; believes that upon the establishment of that commissioner each of the children's commissioners within the United Kingdom should have equal responsibilities over children in their respective territories and over children from their respective territories in secure accommodation; and agrees with the recommendations of the Welsh Affairs Committee that the Government should include in any bill to establish a Children's Commissioner for England, clauses to extend the powers of the Children's Commissioner for Wales to cover all non-developed areas of policy for children and young people in Wales.
