European Union Constitution Energy Chapter
EDM number 101 in 2003-04, proposed by Bob Blizzard on 26/11/2003.
That this House, recognising the importance of the UK oil and gas industry to the nation's economy and energy supply, is concerned that the inclusion of an energy chapter in the proposed European Union constitution may result in the loss of national control over the exploitation of the United Kingdom's reserves of oil and gas; and calls upon the Government in its negotiations at the Inter-Governmental Conference to veto any proposal to cede competence over licensing and other national controls of the UK's oil and gas reserves to the European Union.
This motion has been signed by a total of 125 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
