Chapelcross Power Station;amdt. Line 1:
EDM number 958A1 in 2002-03, proposed by Llew Smith on 27/03/2003.
leave out from 'Chapelcross', to end and add 'military nuclear plant has played a key role in the production of tritium for the United Kingdom's nuclear weapons of mass destruction since it opened in 1959; further notes that it has never produced electrical power economically as it has always remained a military plant; notes also that Chapelcross has never been designated as a civilian nuclear plant to the international safeguards authorities at IAEA and Euratom, and it remains the only UK nuclear plant not subject to international safeguards; recalls that Chapelcross has suffered several serious accidents with nuclear fuel in recent years; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to close the plant forthwith and to redeploy the workforce in the radioactive decontamination, clean up and environmental restoration of the site.'.
This is a ammendment to 958.
