Tibet

EDM number 939 in 2002-03, proposed by Adam Price on 25/03/2003.

That this House notes that the Prime Minister is due to visit China on 24th to 28th April; further notes that China has oppressively occupied Tibet since 1950, and that the Free Tibet Society estimates that 1.2 million Tibetans have been killed in that period by occupying forces; and calls on the Prime Minister to press the Chinese Government to foster new and meaningful negotiations with the Tibetan Government in exile, and to lodge protests against the treatment of Tibetan political prisoners by the Chinese authorities.

This motion has been signed by a total of 42 MPs.
