Bombardier Aerospace-Shorts

That this House notes the announcement of further job losses at Bombardier Aerospace-Shorts factories in Belfast; recognises the pressures that the aerospace industry has faced since 11th September 2001; observes that the company has over the past 18 months sought assistance for a facility for the airlines with the Exports Credit Guarantee Department to underpin new orders across the industry; is concerned that although the principle of ECGD support has been accepted and despite the length of time already taken, there are no agreements in place; and calls upon the Government to explore what other measures can be taken to mitigate the job losses and to take steps to ensure that there is an early announcement of funding facilities to help the UK aerospace industry.
