DOWN'S SYNDROME ASSOCIATION EDUCATION SUPPORT PACK
EDM number 849 in 2002-03, proposed by Brian Iddon on 06/03/2003.
That this House commends the Down's Syndrome Association and the Government for their work in ensuring that all children with Down's Syndrome in the United Kingdom receive the education they need in order to fulfill their individual potential, be it in mainstream or special school; recognises the valuable contribution that the Association's new Education Support Pack launched this week in Parliament, will make to aid the successful inclusion of children with Down's Syndrome into mainstream schools; expresses concern at the ongoing reluctance of many schools to accept children with Down's Syndrome, despite recent legislative changes strengthening their right to mainstream education; and urges the Government to do all in its powers to assist.
