National Institute For Clinical Excellence And Photodynamic Therapy
EDM number 805 in 2002-03, proposed by Alan Meale on 03/03/2003.
That this House is concerned about the National Institute for Clinical Excellence's recent ruling on photodynamic therapy which, if agreed, will lead to many people suffering from age-related macular degeneration being denied effective treatment to halt their vision loss; notes that the decision will effectively deny an estimated 3,000 visually impaired people their right to PDT treatment on the NHS; and calls upon the Government to listen to the appeals made by, amongst others, the Macular Disease Society, urging immediate free access to this treatment for all sufferers.
This motion has been signed by a total of 40 MPs.
