Northern Ireland Labour Force Survey
EDM number 786 in 2002-03, proposed by Gregory Campbell on 26/02/2003.
That this House welcomes the publication in February by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency of the Labour Force Survey; notes results from the survey where over the period 1990 to 2001 the numbers of Roman Catholics in employment increased by 59,000 whereas the numbers of Protestants increased by 19,000; and calls for action to be taken by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to ensure genuine equality of treatment among those seeking employment in Northern Ireland so that Protestants can enjoy similar levels of success as that enjoyed by Roman Catholics in obtaining employment in both the public and private sectors.
