Hayfever Alert Day

EDM number 724 in 2002-03, proposed by Liam Fox on 12/02/2003.

That this House notes with concern that hayfever now affects over 20-25 per cent. of young people aged between 13 and 21, and the resulting distress and discomfort caused and its disruption to study and work; calls on the NHS to take the management of hayfever more seriously, as studies have consistently found that the services to sufferers are woefully inadequate, with just 34 consultant allergists in the UK; urges the Government to ensure equality of access to good quality health care for people who suffer from hayfever; and congratulates Allergy UK in continuing to raise the awareness of the shortcomings of hayfever treatment in the NHS and for launching Hayfever Alert Day on 17th February.

This motion has been signed by a total of 48 MPs.
