Un Resolution 1441
EDM number 67 in 2002-03, proposed by Michael Ancram on 13/11/2002.
That this House welcomes the unanimous decision taken by the UN Security Council and applauds its determination to deal with Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction; expresses the hope that the regime in Baghdad will not obstruct the UN weapons inspectors in any form; notes that Resolution 1441 clearly states that any such obstruction will result in serious consequences as a result of its continued violations of its obligations; further notes that in the event of military action the Government should set out what plans it has for a post-Saddam Iraq; expresses concern that Iraq as a country should not be fragmented; highlights that the international community must accept its responsibility to assist the people of Iraq with economic aid and humanitarian assistance; and notes that this is vital if the Iraqi people are to successfully rebuild the internal infrastructure and economy of the country.
