BBC Tv Politics Show
EDM number 640 in 2002-03, proposed by Ken Purchase on 03/02/2003.
That this House expresses its dismay that the Politics Show, broadcast on 2nd February, in its report on asylum seekers and refugees temporarily housed at Heath Town, Wolverhampton, made no reference to the exceptional work of the Heath Town Estate Management Board in promoting good community relations, or to the renowned multi-racial football team and other first class neighbourhood initiatives undertaken jointly by local residents, voluntary bodies and the Wolverhampton City Council; laments that the programme failed to broadcast an alternative voice to that of the well known anti-immigration views of the politicians who were given a platform in the feature; and contrasts this with the well balanced Central TV regional news feature broadcast on 29th January when people resident at the Heath Town Estate were allowed to speak for themselves.
This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
