Developers And The Green Belt
EDM number 604 in 2002-03, proposed by James Clappison on 29/01/2003.
That this House notes with concern the activities of developers such as Property Spy of St Albans who purchase agricultural land in the greenbelt in the South East and divide it into plots to be sold to purchasers without the benefit of planning permission but with a view to future development, as in the case of agricultural land adjoining Northlands in Potters Bar; notes in particular that this practice is likely to lead to degradation of the environment and is in conflict with the spirit and objectives of greenbelt policy; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to address this problem.
