Funding For Possible Olympic Games Bid

EDM number 575 in 2002-03, proposed by Nick Palmer on 23/01/2003.

That this House recognises the significant cost of mounting a bid for a London Olympics, the enormous cost if the bid were to be successful, the uncertain prospect that the next Olympics will again be awarded to Europe at all, and the less than overwhelming public enthusiasm for the Millennium Dome despite its analogous benefits for London infrastructure; and therefore urges the Government to ensure that any bid is financed only from London taxpayers, Lottery funding or private sources, and not by taxpayers outside London who would derive little benefit.

This motion has been signed by a total of 1 MPs.
