Takeover Bids For Safeways

EDM number 560 in 2002-03, proposed by John McDonnell on 22/01/2003.

That this House notes with concern that the takeover bids for Safeways, currently being reported, potentially put at risk 1300 jobs at Safeways' headquarters in West London; and calls upon the Government to be prepared to intervene in the takeover process to protect the public interest, for both employees and consumers.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
