Future Of The Tote

EDM number 544 in 2002-03, proposed by Jeff Ennis on 20/01/2003.

That this House supports the Government's pledge to pass the Tote to a racing trust; urges the Government to introduce the necessary legislation to implement its promise in the next session of Parliament; calls upon the Government to ensure that any consideration for a sale of the Tote to a racing trust will be set at a level that the Tote and racing can afford; further calls on the Government to preserve the Tote's exclusive licence to conduct pool betting; and urges formal pre-legislative scrutiny of relevant clauses by a committee of both Houses to start as soon as practicably possible.

This motion has been signed by a total of 60 MPs.
