Sex Offenders
EDM number 521 in 2002-03, proposed by Sandra Gidley on 15/01/2003.
That this House calls on the Government to note the recent deportation of a British national from Cambodia and to use the forthcoming Sexual Offences Bill to amend legislation that allows those convicted of sexual offences to travel overseas for eight days without having to register their visit and to require registered sex offenders planning to travel for longer periods to list all destinations they intend to travel to so the appropriate authorities can be informed; and considers that as sexual offences have a lasting psychological and often physical effect on children it should be the Home Secretary's immediate priority that legislation is in place to protect as many children as possible in this country and abroad from this terrible crime.
