Angola

EDM number 470 in 2002-03, proposed by Caroline Spelman on 08/01/2003.

That this House recognises the death of Unita rebel leader Jonas Savimbi in February 2002 as a turning point for peace in Angola; notes that a key to future peace is the re-integration of ex-soldiers into society; further recognises the huge landmine problem in Angola; praises the NGO personnel working in Angola despite the dangerous and life-threatening conditions posed by the landmine problem; and urges the Government to help with the clearance of landmines in Angola and landmine education for the people of Angola.

This motion has been signed by a total of 66 MPs.
