Analogue Switch Off

That this House notes that the FCC in America has decided that all television sets of 35 inches and larger must have a digital tuner by 1st July 2005 and that all other sets must have them by 1st July 2007; further notes that the UK has prevaricated on this issue of analogue switch off since 1997 and as a consequence where once the UK was the global leader, its position has now been usurped; and calls on the Government to make an announcement on analogue switch off before the end of this year.
