British Energy Liabilities Funding
EDM number 397 in 2002-03, proposed by Alan Simpson on 17/12/2002.
That this House opposes any use of taxpayers money to fund reprocessing of irradiated spent nuclear fuel from British Energy reactors over the next 10 years; believes that any public funds made available to assist in the discharge of British Energy's historic liabilities should be used in achieving the most environmentally benign method of storing spent fuel, encapsulation and immobilization of reprocessed plutonium and other waste currently in store at Sellafield; and believes that regular reports should be made to this House on the ways in which the financial commitments made to British Energy have been discharged.
This motion has been signed by a total of 26 MPs.
