Holocaust Memorial Day

EDM number 393 in 2002-03, proposed by Louise Ellman on 16/12/2002.

That this House notes that Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January, which is the day the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated; recognises the importance of this year's theme, Children and the Holocaust; remembers all those who lost their lives in the Holocaust and other more recent tragedies; thanks the City of Edinburgh for hosting the national event; commends those organisations such as the Holocaust Educational Trust for their work towards this day; and encourages all honourable Members to be involved in a day that not only helps to ensure that the Holocaust is never forgotten but also warns of the dangers of all forms of discrimination today.
