No Cricket World Up In Zimbabwe

EDM number 375 in 2002-03, proposed by Michael Ancram on 16/12/2002.

That this House notes the concerns expressed by honourable Members on all sides of this House, by the British public and by concerned parties in Southern Africa regarding plans to play World Cup cricket matches in Zimbabwean Government to curtail press freedom; expresses concern that revenues accrued from media coverage and match sponsorship will be used for political ends rather than to feed those who are starving; and therefore urges the International Cricket Council to relocate those World Cup cricket matches due to be played in Zimbabwe in February and March 2003.

This motion has been signed by a total of 90 MPs.
