Conservative Party And The Burgner Report On National Minimum Standards For Care Homes

EDM number 292 in 2002-03, proposed by Paul Burstow on 05/12/2002.

That this House notes the publication of the Burgner Report on 29th July 1996; further notes that the report made recommendations concerning the reform and extension of the system of regulation of care providers including national minimum standards and a national system of inspection; also notes that the report was signed by the honourable Member for West Chelmsford, the then Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health; and regrets that the Conservative front-bench health team has forgotten that in Government it commissioned the Burgner Report, welcomed its recommendations and supported its passage into law as the Care Standards Act.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
