The Future Development Of Air Transport In The United Kingdom

EDM number 216 in 2002-03, proposed by Tim Collins on 27/11/2002.

That this House believes that the consultation process on expansion of airport capacity currently being undertaken by the Department for Transport is seriously flawed; is concerned by reports that consultation documents have not been available to all those wishing to express opinions and that ministers at the Department for Transport have been unavailable when sought by those directly affected by the proposed changes; believes that the 'tick one option' style questionnaire is restrictive and misleading and does not allow respondents to demonstrate their active opposition to the proposals; urges the Secretary of State for Transport to agree to an extension by at least two months of the consultation process in England in order to allow all views to be heard; and calls upon the Secretary of State and his ministers to undertake to visit all those areas directly affected by the consultation proposals.

This motion has been signed by a total of 31 MPs.
