Name Of The City Of Londonderry

EDM number 215 in 2002-03, proposed by Jeffrey Donaldson on 27/11/2002.

That this House opposes the attempt by Sinn Fein/IRA to change the historic name of the City of Londonderry which incorporates within it the identity ot the two main traditions in the City; believes that such an action would represent a serious breach of section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 which imposes an obligation on all public bodies, including district councils, to respect the rights and identity of all sections of the community; and believes that changing the City name would be an act of discrimination against the Unionists of Londonderry.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
